into my passion project

Sugar, Butter, Flour: The Schneider Family Baking Book started as my college senior project and eventually evolved into my design passion project. Using my family’s beloved baking recipes, I created a beginner’s baking book that focuses on learning the skills and techniques needed for baking. Everything in the book, from the photography to the writing of the recipes, was designed by me.

I created this book for people who want to start baking but don’t know where to begin and for families with young kids who need a collection of recipes to bake together. With this in mind, I wanted the book to have a charming and homey feel while being minimalistic and gentle. The book needed to be straightforward, with little distraction, so beginning bakers and kids could easily understand the recipes and baking techniques.
